What’s your connection to Moorfields Eye Hospital and
Moorfields Eye Charity?
25 years ago, I was diagnosed with Birdshot Chorioretinopathy.
At this time there was very little information available about the
disease and after early treatment elsewhere, I was introduced to
the specialist team at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
I was absolutely
astounded by their professionalism and dedication.
The connection to Moorfields Eye Charity soon followed and
coincided with a personal decision to become a little more
involved with charitable causes.
Why do you think it’s so important to support the new eye
health centre?
I’ve spent many hours at Moorfields’ Electrophysiology
Department where the calibre of health professionals is excellent
but the building is in desperate need of an upgrade.
If not personally, there can be very few people in the UK who

at one time or another, will not be touched by a loved one
needing some form of eye care.
Coming together, we can make
a difference and help establish the new eye health centre as a
place of excellence.
What are you most excited about for the centre and the
future of eye health?
It is probably the design of Oriel that excites me the most. Staff
and patients’ perception and the mental wellbeing of all will be
elevated to a different level!
This new international eye health centre will match Moorfields’
world class reputation and be somewhere we can all be proud of.
