Archaeological discoveries
Archaeological excavations on site by MOLA (Museum of
London Archaeology) have been completed. At the dig, they
discovered the remains of a Victorian workhouse, artefacts and
features that perhaps wouldn’t be expected within a workhouse
environment: brightly coloured walls, fireplaces and workhouse
branded crockery. The findings give fascinating insights into
daily life and health care in this era. The MOLA team created
blogs, ran events with the public including local schools and
produced an audiobook.
