Patient and supporter profiles
Keith
What’s your connection to Moorfields?
My son is now 34, and he has been a patient at
Moorfields since he was four weeks old.
He’s had so many operations I have lost count
- but thanks to the first-class treatment he’s
received from the amazing teams of doctors,
nurses and other staff at Moorfields, my son
has retained a good amount of vision and has
not gone blind like me.
My two wonderful granddaughters are now
also seen by the same team - and are thankfully
doing very well too.
What does Moorfields mean to you?
Moorfields means peace of mind. Being a
patient at Moorfields means
that you have the top experts
on your side, all doing their
very best to protect your
vision as best they can.
Why is it so important to
you for the charity to be
investing in research?
I know what it means to
lose your sight. The charity’s
funding of research means
that new treatments can be developed, which
should mean that more patients can retain
more of their sight for longer - both here in the
UK and throughout the rest of the world too.
Keith turned his passion for running into a new challenge by running the Great North Run for
the charity. He completed the half marathon running untethered from his guide, relying only
on sound and his faith in his guide to steer him through.
