Impact Report 2026
Strategic objective 1:
Create the new Moorfields and
UCL Centre for Eye Health
The new Moorfields and UCL Centre
for Eye Health is set to redefine how
eye care, research and education
come together. This year has marked
important progress as the centre
moves closer to opening its doors.
It has been an exciting year in the development
of Moorfields and UCL Centre for Eye Health,
from the announcement of the centre’s name
to major construction milestones and growing
momentum towards opening.
The centre has welcomed staff and students
from Moorfields Eye Hospital, the UCL
Institute of Ophthalmology and patient
groups, offering a glimpse of the worldclass centre. Located in London’s Knowledge
Quarter, a globally recognised hub for
research, innovation and education, the
centre will improve care for patients and
help drive the discoveries that not only
prevent sight loss, but restore vision.
The chosen name reflects the shared vision and values of the partnership
between the charity, Moorfields, and UCL. None of this would have been
possible without philanthropic support from the charity and the generosity
of the donors who believed in the ambition of this project. This support has
turned a bold vision into a tangible reality and stands as a testament to what
collaboration and philanthropy can accomplish together to achieve worldleading innovation and research in eye health.
